Okay, The winner is Scooter!! Ice went out on March 22 at 4:00. He guessed March 23 at 4:15. He watched from Wild Wolf Inn Bar!! He wins the "special Prize" and that is, 4 shots of Cabo Wabo. Should he have them all at once, or one each day?

Yeah Ice is out. Scooter and crew have been on the river daily. Me, I am waiting for warmer weather. It is just a bit too brisk for me today. Have a fun day!!!

I'm going to check the river today. Yesterday a few of the ice jams let go. The Red River was open. They were releasing from the dam and water was going over the gates.

Wolf at 1150 yesterday

I got on the river again yesterday with Tim Miller, Tim Kollenberg, Lloyd Larson, Craig Knapp and Scooter. We also were tailed by Mike Brown and his buddy Mike, (who pulled off a great roll at Gilmores by the way) Not bad for his first season paddling! It was soo cool to be on the river in the sunshine with awesome levels. We took a 4:00 run down short 3, and lot's of grinning down the way. I meant to take some photos, but couldn't get my camera to work, will try again today. We do plan to go ag… Continue

Long Section 3 with my compadres

We hit the river yesterday to do long section 3. We had a group of about 12 people, and the river was at about 400 cfs. It took us about 3 and half hours and was a great cruise. The scenery was really great. There is nothing like spring paddling and checking out the shoreline without the greenery yet. The temp was around 45 degrees. A near perfect day for paddling. We were wishing for a bit more water, but was glad to grab the chance to do the river anyway. The banks are mostly free of ice, exce… Continue

I hope that Scooter gives an update when he can! i think that next weekend the Wolf may be open. if it is, here is a little tempting bit for you. Even though it feels like winter, a semi tractor brought us a whiff of Spring.

Today we received a large shipment of pretty Jackson Kayaks. Funs, Stars, Rockers, Allstars, Heros and new Daytrippers. 20 some boats altogether, and the boatshed is full. The colors beautiful on this rather bleak day. Each year, the days that the trucks arrive at Bear Paw, brings us lots of happiness thinking about summer days on the river. Scooter started another big bonfire today, and Connie was in to clean some rooms. I am working on some other desk type projects.

Some might wonder how we f… Continue

Hey Jamee! Things are going well here in Bozeman... I'm working as the Early Educator for the Museum of the Rockies and am plugging away at a Master's in Education. Two full-time jobs... enough for me! It's so great to "see" you all here up on the web! I miss Bear Paw and the Wolf!! I get out paddling, but not as much as the summers I spent with you on the Wolf. I'm so happy to see Bear Paw being rebuilt and hope to visit soon! (I don't make it back to the Midwest very often these days. Once in the past two years...) It sounds like things are good with you from your comments and your posts! Say hi to everyone for me! :)

I'll try to get some pics posted. I got the question (advise) answered that I was looking to talk with you about earlier this month. I was in the Cayman Islands diving when I got your call back. Looking forward to paddling this spring as I get ready for the Big Ditch. If you, Scott or others ever want paddling partners during the week, let me know. See you at Canoecopia.

Jamee,

I appreciate your efforts to reach out and help keep people connected to the North Woods and the Wolf River Area. Some day Barbara and I will sit down with you and Shirlee and get to know you better as neighbors and friends. Of course, cooperation on the Great Wolf River Connector Trail (perhaps you have a better name) will help us to enjoy working together.

Barbara and I just returned from a great Valentines dinner. I hope you and Shirlee are enjoying your Valentines day together.

Winter has been going good, although I can't wait for spring. We are anxious to get back to canoeing! Yoga has been going pretty good so far. This is really cool getting this community together. We look forward to getting up there for some camping again! Take care and we'll talk soon!

You bet! Have you been keeping up on my Wolf River Finals group page on facebook? If not, you should really check out the Discussion Topic: "Training Blog" on the group page... I think you may enjoy it!

Also- Kristen and I drove over to Clearview to visit JJ last evening. He says to say high to everyone up at the Paw! He's doing better and better every week.
