Wolf River Finals - Year 2

The Wolf River Finals is an annual outdoor adventure “event” that typically takes place the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. Originated in 2009 in Langlade WI, this event compliments the Wolfman triathlon which is held in the Fall. However, unlike the Wolf Man, the Wolf River Finals is not a timed or judged competition. The Wolf River Finals is a series of outdoor activities and everyone is invited to participate in as many (or as few) as they like. The goal is to thoroughly enjoy each activity, to challenge yourself, and celebrate all that the Nicolet National Forest and Wolf River Territory have to offer along with folks that share the same love for these sports and the great outdoors. Whether you like Mountain Biking, Whitewater Boating, Trail Running, or Hiking, the Nicolet National Forest and Wolf River Territory are among the Midwest’s most treasured gems. Come on up and see for yourselves- the Wolf River Finals isn’t just an annual adventure sporting event, it’s a weekend long celebration of the great outdoors.

In year one, most stood on the sidelines, spectators- some not sure what to make of it, and others doubtful that it could even be done. Year one’s course consisted of 15 miles of technical single track and double track Mountain Biking (almost no road riding) followed by 10 miles of grade 2-3 white water, then a 3/4 mile push, pull or drag your boat portage and finally 10 miles of unmarked "rustic trail" running all the way back up river to the schoolhouse in Langlade where ringing the bell signaled completion. Year two is shaping up to be even more challenging with an extended Mountain Bike course and a few additional miles of whitewater kayaking.
